FOOD SECURITY

Program Focus

• Support irrigation farming for riverine communities through provision of agri-inputs and training on modern farming practices.
• Formation of community based farmers’ cooperatives and capacity building of local institutions.
• Reconstruction and rehabilitation of farm infrastructures.
• Provision of quality veterinary services.
• Support to tannery institutions.
Objectives of the Food Security programs are to increase food production and improve accessibility, promote livestock health, production and marketing product, improve household incomes to vulnerable groups.

SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS

Program Focus

• NVD seeks to enhance self-reliance in food security and nurturing of key communal resources and services. We also create a choice of alternative livelihoods for enhanced access to adequate and sustainable income and resources to meet their basic needs in short term and coping with shocks in the longer-term. We encourage proper use and management of locally available resources for sustained recovery and development of livelihoods by maintaining the sustainability of natural resource through environmental conservation.
We strive to addresses poverty and vulnerability through early recovery, rehabilitation and development programs so that the target people become more resilient and less vulnerable

WASH (Water Sanitation & Hygiene)

Program Focus

• Improvement of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in targeted communities.
• Promotion of rain water harvesting techniques and appropriate technologies.
• Strengthening capacities of water resource management communities’ skill training and exposure.
• Provision of support for rehabilitation and construction of communal water sources.
• Promote sensitization and create awareness of environmental conservation.
We strive to improve access to safe drinking water and appropriate sanitation & hygiene facilities, promote sustainability and optimal use of natural resources through conservation and proper utilization.

COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM

Program Focus

• NVD is actively engaged in preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) in northern Kenya through targeted peace building initiatives. By organizing youth-focused sports tournaments, community dialogues, and interfaith forums, NVD fosters social cohesion, promotes tolerance, and builds trust among diverse communities. These activities provide safe spaces for dialogue, empower youth with life skills, and counter extremist narratives through positive engagement. NVD also collaborates with local leaders, educators, & civil society actors to address root causes of radicalization.
Through these inclusive and participatory approaches, Northern Vision for Development (NVD) is helping to create resilient communities committed to peace and long-term stability.

• Mediation and reconciliation of conflicting parties
• Dialogue, conflict resolution workshops, and cultural exchange programs

HEALTH AND NUTRITION

Program Focus

• We have result oriented professionals experienced in providing technical support to deal with various aspects of health while maintaining high ethical standards. Our team work extensively to develop capacities for scaling up community health and supporting the development of proper medical systems. We favor a multi-sectorial approach to address immediate and underlying determinants such as of maternal, new-born, child health through existing maternal and child healthcare (MCH) Centers in our areas of reach.
We strive to strengthen access to quality healthcare services in the most rural and remote communities, using an integrated system approach to improve health outcomes

RESEARCH & DATA MANAGEMENT

Program Focus

• NVD conducts targeted research and data-driven analysis to identify and address key challenges affecting Northern Kenya. We investigate drivers of insecurity, youth unemployment, poor access to education, inter-clan conflict and climate change impacts. NVD also examines gender inequality, weak infrastructure, and marginalization in governance and service delivery. Using field surveys, stakeholder interviews, and both qualitative and quantitative data, NVD generates evidence-based insights that guide strategic interventions.
The findings are shared with development partners, local authorities and communities to promote collaborative, context-specific solutions that foster peace, resilience, and inclusive development across the region.
